Nate Boaz is the VP of People Strategy & Planning for Microsoft. Nate leads a team responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to create, improve, and implement Microsoft’s people and organization strategy and the HR function’s strategy to support them.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Nate was a Managing Director at the private equity firm Roark Capital Group where he built a new team of strategic business advisors (Ops, Talent, Digital, Finance, Data & Analytics) to help improve results throughout the entire $60B revenue global portfolio. He was also a member of Roark’s investment committee evaluating and voting on acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures.
Prior to Roark, Nate was the Chief Operating Officer of Accenture Strategy, a $2.5B revenue management consulting business where he was responsible for driving global strategic and operational priorities across the business. He also served as the global client practice leader for the Talent & Organization practice.
Previously at Accenture, Nate led Talent Strategy and Leadership Development for all of Accenture globally. In these roles he helped to transform Accenture’s client account leadership and go-to-market, including helping to build and scale some of Accenture’s new businesses. He also worked on Accenture’s culture transformation including performance management, learning, and leadership development. He joined Accenture in 2014 and was appointed Senior Managing Director in 2016 and was a member of Accenture’s Global Leadership Council.
Nate joined Accenture from McKinsey & Company, where he spent 9 years and left as a Principal (partner) leading the firm’s global client practice on leadership development. He served clients in a variety of industries and on a variety of strategic priorities with an emphasis on achieving transformational change.
Before that, Nate served as a human intelligence and counterintelligence officer in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed for both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom before being honorably discharged as a Captain in 2004. Nate graduated with distinction and an MBA from the Harvard Business School and with merit and a BS in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy.
Nate cares deeply about veterans’ issues and is the Chairman of the Board for the veteran focused nonprofit Patrol Base Abbate that helps to proactively improve veteran mental health and prevent suicide. Nate and his wife, Martha, live in Atlanta with their three kids and two rescued dogs. They enjoy international travel, hiking, scuba diving, and laying on the beach with a frosty beverage.
